Bansko is a beautiful Bulgarian town full of character at the foot of the Pirin Mountain range. Bansko provides a unique combination of a modern mountain resort with state of the art ski facilities, with a living historic rustic town. If you do not want to drive to Bansko, it is served by a scenic narrow gauge mountain railway connection, travelling through dramatic countryside. It enables you to travel from both Sophia and Plovdiv by train. Bansko offers the tourist superb winter sport, summer mountain walking or biking and an extensive range of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. There is also a good range of shops to pick up some special souvenirs and gifts. Bansko is also a good base for exploring the local area including monasteries and accessing other holiday facilities such as the Ian Woosnam designed golf course at nearby Razlog.
